Self Education Will Make You A Fortune

One of the biggest myths in our modern society is that formal education is what you'll need to be successful. Unfortunately, our education systems around the world were primarily designed during the industrial age as a means to create quality employees for the elite that owned the factories and other industries. A good formal education may very well prepare you for a high paying job someday, but I haven't met many people who manage to live a fulfilled life who have a JOB (also known as Just Over Broke). One of my mentors Jim Rohn said "Formal education will make you a living; self education will make you a fortune".

Your education experience may not have been like mine, but here's one thing I discovered along the way. I did very well in school, graduating from both high school and college with honours. As soon as I left school though, those accolades didn't mean very much at all. They were sufficient in obtaining employment, but I got the job more as a result of a connection than my grades. Looking back, the education got me in the door, but my real education started the day I started work. I think you'll find that most people who've been in a particular job for any length of time doesn't have 10 or 15 years of experience for example, they have one or two years experience learning the craft and it's been repeated every year after that. Sure you'll become more proficient in your work, as with anything over time you become more skilled. Chances are though, that other than a few unique experiences each year, the position becomes largely routine.

The key to a success filled life is to become a lifelong learner. I have gleaned more knowledge about health, wealth and life skills from books, CD's, workshops and mentors than I could ever receive in a school. The fact is, these principles just aren't taught in the mainstream education systems. They weren't designed for that purpose. If you want to achieve extraordinary success, you've got to escape being ordinary.

One of the easiest ways I've found to gain the wisdom and experience from the most successful people on the planet is to turn your car into a university on wheels. You very likely spend an hour or two a day in your car commuting to work, school, meetings and appointments. Just by replacing the radio station you normally listen to (which spits out death, destruction and despair every hour or more) with educational audio CD's you can literally become an expert in your field in less than a year. Those hours in the car can be the equivalent of a full semester of university class and lecture time. Time is your most valuable commodity, so use it wisely and learn from some of the greatest minds on the planet.

This practice doesn't need to cost you anything either. Your local library is full of books on CD, or audio programs that you can take out and start increasing your knowledge right away. Go to the nearest library and visit their self help section or find CD's on a financial subject that interests you to help you continue to learn.
